Roland Brachmann graduated in 1995 as electrical engineer from the Technical University of Munich. He then worked as a software engineer at Bosch Telecom. In 1996, he joined the patent department at Siemens, where he became a head of Siemens’ intellectual property department in March 2001 with responsibility for the IP issues of Siemens’ Corporate Technology.

From August 2003 to December 2006, Roland Brachmann worked inter alia with Jones Day and with the Frohwitter law firm advising international and domestic clients in the field of Intellectual Property. In January 2007, Roland Brachmann started his own patent boutique together with his partners Wilhelm von Lieres and Dr. Mark Schulze.

Roland Brachmann’s practice is concentrated in the areas of electrical engineering, telecommunication, information and communication technology, data processing, and software. He advises domestic and foreign clients on the full range of patent matters, including patent applications and their prosecution through German and European offices, oppositions and appeals before the German and European patent offices, as well as in litigation before German civil courts. Furthermore, he is involved in patent portfolio management, portfolio shaping, product clearing and licensing issues.

Roland Brachmann is admitted to the Bar of German Patent Attorneys and registered to practice before the European Patent Office and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.
