Dr. Mark Schulze studied Physics in Heidelberg, Edinburgh, and Freiburg and holds a Diploma degree and a Doctorate in Physics from Freiburg University.

Following posts as scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for the Mechanics of Materials in Freiburg and as visiting scholar at Stanford University, he joined the patent department of Siemens AG as a patent professional in 1997. In 2001, he became head of the IP Strategy and Portfolio Management group within the Siemens patent department. In 2004, he moved into private practice and set up his own Patent Law Office and IP Consultancy. In 2007, he joined Wilhelm von Lieres and Roland Brachmann to found von Lieres Brachmann Schulze.

Mark Schulze's one main field of practice is the full range of patent matters in the areas of physics and mechanics, high-frequency technology, communication technology, materials science, automotive technology, sensors and actuators, and domestic appliances. His other main field of practice is patent strategy consulting, including general business aspects of patents, patent portfolio management, process optimisation, and standardisation and licensing issues.

Mark Schulze is admitted to the Bar of German Patent Attorneys and registered to practice before the European Patent Office and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.
